AI assistants are good at writing posts. The annoying part has always been the step after: copying the text out of the chat, opening each platform, pasting, attaching the image, picking a time. With the Model Context Protocol (MCP), your assistant can do that step itself.

This guide shows how to connect Claude or ChatGPT to your social accounts through Feedlio, what you can ask it to do, and how to keep it safe.

What MCP is, in one paragraph

MCP is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use outside tools. A service publishes an "MCP server" with a list of tools, such as "create a post" or "list my scheduled posts". Your assistant reads that list and calls the right tool when your request needs it. You stay in the chat; the assistant does the clicking.

Feedlio runs a hosted MCP server at https://mcp.feedlio.io/mcp. Nothing to install, build or host yourself.

What you need

  • A Feedlio account with at least one social account connected (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and more).
  • An AI client that supports remote MCP connectors: Claude (web, desktop or mobile), Claude Code, or ChatGPT with Developer mode.

Connect Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector.
  3. Name it "Feedlio" and paste https://mcp.feedlio.io/mcp as the URL. Click Add.
  4. Click Connect. Claude opens Feedlio's own sign-in page.
  5. Sign in to Feedlio, read the list of permissions, and choose Allow.

Your Feedlio password never reaches Claude. Claude gets an access token that expires and refreshes on its own, and you can remove it any time in Feedlio under Settings → MCP → Connected apps.

On Claude's free plan you can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector for the organisation first, and each member then connects their own Feedlio account.

Connect Claude Code

Create a personal access token in Feedlio (Settings → MCP), then run:

claude mcp add --transport http feedlio \
  https://mcp.feedlio.io/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer fdl_your_token"

Treat the token like a password: don't commit it to a repository or paste it into shared chats.

Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT adds custom MCP servers through Developer mode:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode. In Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces an admin may need to allow it first.
  2. Back in Apps & Connectors, click Create, name it "Feedlio" and enter https://mcp.feedlio.io/mcp.
  3. Choose OAuth, sign in to Feedlio and allow access.
  4. In a new chat, click +, choose More and select Feedlio.

Which ChatGPT plans can use Developer mode, and whether they can run actions that change things (like scheduling a post), is still changing. Check OpenAI's help centre for your plan.

What you can ask

Once connected, talk to your assistant normally. A few examples:

  • "Which social accounts are connected in my Feedlio workspace?"
  • "Write a LinkedIn post about our new pricing and schedule it for Tuesday at 9am Kuala Lumpur time."
  • "Turn this blog post into an Instagram caption and a Pinterest pin, using the image at this link."
  • "What's scheduled for next week? Move the Facebook post on Thursday to Friday afternoon."
  • "Cancel the TikTok post for tomorrow."

Feedlio's server has 19 tools: workspaces and connected accounts, creating, editing, rescheduling and cancelling posts, and adding media from your library, from a link, or from your computer through a one-time upload link.

Every tool uses the same API as the Feedlio dashboard. The same checks apply as when you post by hand: character limits, media rules for each platform, and your plan's limits. If a post would fail, the assistant gets a clear reason it can explain to you.

Keep it safe

  • Read before you allow. The sign-in page lists exactly what the assistant can do.
  • Ask for a draft first. For important posts, ask the assistant to show you the text and time before it schedules anything.
  • Use workspaces. Agencies can keep each client in its own workspace and tell the assistant which one to use.
  • Disconnect when done. Remove access in Settings → MCP → Connected apps, or revoke a personal token.

Frequently asked questions

Does the assistant post immediately? Only if you ask it to. It can also schedule for later or save a draft.

Can it post images and videos? Yes. It can use media from your Feedlio library, add it from a public link, or give you an upload link for a file on your computer.

Which platforms work? The ones connected in your Feedlio workspace. The assistant can list them for you.

Ready to try it? Create a Feedlio account, connect a social account, and add the connector. More detail is on the Feedlio MCP page.
